We’re all OG’s here
Original Goods Cannabis is a family owned and operated business, grown in Calgary, built by Albertan Businesses, and dedicated to selling high quality Canadian Cannabis.
OGC is dedicated to developing a retail experience to set itself apart from the competition, by focusing on education, science and experience.
Where science meets experience
Our team knew that getting into the market at this point was going to be a challenge, after all, there are so many great Albertan retailers already. We knew we had to be different, and bring something the industry lacks. We partnered with the amazing people at Lobo Genetics to work to be able to profile your DNA and show you exactly how your cannabis journey was going to go. Not through anecdotal evidence and guestimates, but by training our Cannabis Concierges on how to read the data from the Lobo tests, and to recommend quality product to make sure you enjoy your experiences. Furthermore, the Cannabis Sommelier, Andrew Freedman, joined us early in 2020 to take to the daunting task of ensuring our retail staff were trained to be able to accurately explain the differences in flavour notes, and how to pair those to make for a great time.
It’s Only Cannabis
You might notice that we don’t call it “weed”, “marajuana”, “dope’, or any other term, it’s always just cannabis with us. This is a big deal, and it’s not because we’re pretentious hipsters (though, some of us do rock great beards.) Cannabis is the name of the plant, the overall name for the various strains derived from the sub-genus of the plant. A lot of the slang terms have negative social connotations, and we didn’t want to bring that in the store, and instead focus on the positives of cannabis consumption. So in our stores you can rest assured there will be no judgement from us, only helpful advice.
We’re Not Doctors (And we Can’t Take a Look)
You may notice that in our stores we actively avoid telling you about potential health benefits. Part of that is that we’re beholden to the AGLC regulations, but a much bigger part is we don’t know you like your doctor does. In our stores we will provide you all of the information that we can know about you (up to and including the Lobo tests) but we’re never going to make medical recommendations. We have a few articles on our blog about this, so we recommend you check them out. That said, if you do come in with some recommendations from your doctor, we’d be happy to help!
